MCWSV announces speakers for Seven Last Words
Submitted article
On Friday, April 18, The Ministers’ Conference of Winston-Salem and Vicinity (MCWSV) will host their Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ at St. John CME Church.
The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ refers to the seven sayings that Jesus spoke from the cross before his death. These words are often studied and reflected upon during Lent and Good Friday and used in various programs.
Traditionally, the Ministers’ Conference looks to deepen the understanding of the seven sayings with their program by having different clergy speak on each of the sayings. This year’s speakers will be Bishop Billie Mason Johnson, co-pastor of Macedonia Worship Center; Rev. Craig Schaub, pastor of Parkway United Church of Christ; Rev. Enrique Catana, the recipient of the 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Young Dreamers Award; Elder Peculiar L. Sprinkle, assistant pastor of Ambassador Cathedral; Rev. Gwathney Leak, Jr., pastor of Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church; Evangelist Cynthia Rucker Collins; and Rev. Dr. Chris Gambill, association vice president of the Faith Health Division at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
In addition to the program, the Ministers’ Conference is also holding a food drive. Everyone who attends is asked to bring three non-perishable food items. Donations will be used to support food security in our community.
St. John CME Church is located at 350 NW Crawford Place. The program is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. For more information, visit the Ministers’ Conference website.
