At the center of the ministerial pursuits of the Rev. Yvonne H. Hines and the congregants of Mount Sinai Full Gospel Deliverance Center is a commitment to community service and uplift.

The church prepared boxes of food for families in need. Each box included a traditional turkey, several pounds of fresh potatoes, onions, beans, rice, stuffing, butter, eggs, milk, cooking oil, sugar, flour, corn meal, canned goods, cake mix, pie crusts and fresh greens. Boxes for larger families also included cereal, soups, beverages and fruit snacks.

Operation Thanksgiving Project is part of the extensive Outreach Ministry of the church and is financed by the generous giving of the parishioners. Church members assemble the week prior to Thanksgiving to package the items for distribution. This year, members of the Justice Studies Club of Winston-Salem State University assisted with the packaging process.

Though the church has conducted this project for over two decades, the needs have never been as great as in recent years, according to Pastor Yvonne Hines.

We are committed to sharing our faith, not just in word, but in doing what we can to uplift humankind,” she said.
