Winston-Salem’s own Andrea Beck broke the 1,000 career kills mark on Saturday as Wake Forest defeated Campbell 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14) and swept Appalachian State 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-20).

“The minute she stepped onto campus her freshman year, she’s made an impact,” Head Volleyball Coach Heather Kahl Holmes said about the senior standout. “I can’t say enough about her work ethic or character. She’s the epitome of what Wake Forest is about.”

Beck hit her 1,000th kill in the third set against Appalachian State off a pass from sophomore Danae Rosendall, giving the Deacs a 15-6 lead. She added two more kills in the set, finishing the match with 17 kills and only four errors with a .406 hitting percentage.

Heading into the day, she only needed 29 kills in two matches, which she accomplished, finishing with 31 on the day.

In the first match of the day against Campbell, she forged the way with 14 kills off 18 attempts with just one error, hitting an astounding .722. She also assisted on five blocks and had one solo block.

Wake Forest picked up where they left off on Friday night. After sweeping Toledo on Friday night, the Deacs swept Campbell 3-0.

Wake Forest (6-5/0-0 ACC) began ACC this week with a road match at NC State. They will be at North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m.
