This weekend, from Friday, May 2, through Sunday, May 4, Theater Alliance will be performing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at their downtown theatre on West Sixth Street. As a stage rendition of the classic work of Roald Dahl, the musical, adapted by Richard R. George, presents an original score for the beloved tale of Charlie Bucket and his golden ticket adventure.
There will also be some familiar tunes throughout the performance, as the musical also features some of the iconic songs from the 1971 motion picture, such as “Candy Man,” “I’ve Got a Ticket,” “Oompa Loompa Song,” and “Pure Imagination.” The show promises an evening of candy, comedy, family fun, and, of course, a world of pure imagination.
The shows will run two evening performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., with two matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively. Tickets start at $21 for adults, and $19 for accredited students and seniors (age 62 and over). Tickets may be purchased online at https://theatrealliance.thundertix.com/events/229981 or by calling the theater at 336-732-7777. On May 2, the in-person box office will also be open and available for ticket purchases from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
