Diggs Memorial United Holy Church held its Spring Revival from April 23-25. Gospel legend Rev. Luther Barnes headlined the event, which opened with a musical showcase that included performances by Waleen Gaither, Janie Gatlin, Renee Houser, Pastor Donnell Peterson & Rhema. Barnes gave the message “A Cave Praiser,” from Psalms 34.

On the second night, Jeremiah Salter and New Praize provided a crowd-moving worship experience, as did the music ministry of Dionn Owen and Renaissance. The performances left the crowd literally screaming for more. Rev. Barnes, again, gave the message – “A Roof Top Praiser,” from Mark 2: 1-6.

The final night culminated with the Carver High School Marching Band coming to Diggs Memorial to mesmerize revival-goers with their talent. The band performed outside the church, drawing a large number of neighborhood residents as well.

Inside, Minister Eric Turner and the Voices of Calvary Hill Mass Choir performed, as did William Furches of Testimony Mime Ministries. Barnes then performed many of his classics, including “See What the Lord Has Done,” “I am So Satisfied,” “Spirit Fall on Me” and his signature tune, “It’s Your Time!” He concluded the evening with a message of “Healed by Obedience,” from Luke 17: 11-14.

Host Pastor Elder Lamonte Williams thanked the many local leaders who stopped by for the revival. They included State Sen. Earline Parmon, Winston-Salem NAACP President S. Wayne Patterson, Pam Peoples-Joyner (who represented Police Chief Barry Rountree), Minsters Conference President Rev. Willard Bass. Williams also praised the church’s musical staff – Minister of Music Chuck Dubose and Derrick Sinsaine.

“This was truly a revival,” Williams said. “We have witnessed souls being saved by young men walking right off the street and giving their lives to Christ. In addition, I have received testimonials during the revival that lives have been changed for the better.”
