N.C. site to be seen on ‘Sleepy Hollow’
Historic Tryon Palace in New Bern will be seen in the next episode of “Sleepy Hollow,” a new Fox TV series.
When producers needed a vintage location that seemed frozen in time, the turned to the site.
The rebuilt 1700s home of colonial Gov. William Tryon was the perfect place for period suspense and intrigue. It will be seen in the second episode of “Sleepy Hollow” on Sept. 28 at 9 p.m.
This is far from the first time a N. C. State Historic Site has provided great backdrops and settings for films and television shows. The movie “Leatherheads” was filmed on location at the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer, while “Nights on Rodanthe” used Roanoke Island Festival Park. The Showtime series “Homeland” has filmed scenes at the State Capitol.
In the Wilmington area, the USS North Carolina was used for several television shows, including “Revolution,” “One Tree Hill” and the movie “American Warships.” Nearby, Fort Fisher has been a location for “Safe Haven,” “Eastbound and Down” and the movies “We’re the Millers” and “Sleeping with the Enemy.”
The PBS documentary “Slavery and the Making of America” was filmed at Historic Edenton and Somerset Place in Creswell. Documentaries have also been filmed at Horne Creek Historical Farm in Pinnacle and other historic sites.
