In recognition of Black Maternal Health Week, on April 17 Novant Health and Boston-Thurmond United are hosting a free community baby shower and resource fair at the Neil Bolton Home and Garden Building on the Winston-Salem Fairground from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

The event is designed to promote the health and wellness of mothers and children in the community. Any new or expecting mother in the greater Winston-Salem area is welcome to attend. No registration is needed.  

Members of Novant Health’s clinical teams that provide OB/GYN and pediatric care will be available as well as representatives of community organizations that support including, Smart Start, Imprints Cares and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children program (WIC). There will also be refreshments, games, giveaways of diapers and wipes, and raffles for essential baby items. 

For free parking, attendees can enter the fairgrounds at Gate 9 at 421 W. 27th Street, Winston-Salem. 

Boston-Thurmond United is part of the Purpose Build Communities network of community revitalization. It includes two groups working together to achieve a common goal of building a strong and stable neighborhood where families and children can thrive.
