Omegas host Talent Hunt competition
“Music is the social act of communication among people, a gesture of friendship, the strongest there is.”
The brothers of Psi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. held its annual Talent Hunt on Feb. 2 at the Anderson Center Dillard Auditorium on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
Two high school students participated in the event. Only classical and semi-classical music is permitted in the competition. The music had to be performed either instrumentally or vocally.
Micah Eustache, a junior at Parkland High School, was the first place winner for singing “Moon River.” Richard Patterson Jr., a sophomore at R.J. Reynolds High School, finished runner-up for performing “Ukel Toro Medley” on violin.
Miss Eustache will perform, representing Psi Phi Chapter, at the Omega Psi Phi 6th District Council Meeting Talent Hunt held in Charleston, South Carolina, on March 21.
Brother Galvin Crisp was also recognized and presented with a plaque for his contribution to the Winston-Salem community, Psi Phi Chapter and Omega Psi Phi through his contributions to Psi Phi Chapter and Omega Psi Phi on the District as well as International levels, and to the Talent Hunt program.
Psi Phi Chapter would like to thank the contestants, judges and the brothers who volunteered to make the program a success. As a part of Psi Phi Chapter’s efforts to “Paint the Town Purple,” the chapter continues to give back through its volunteer efforts to the Winston-Salem community in many endeavors, including music.
