Members of the Cathcart family gathered for a reunion with excitement June 28–30 in the beautiful city of Rock Hill, S.C.  Family members traveled from California, Virginia, Florida, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee and from throughout South Carolina.

The theme for this year was “Strength in Unity, Unity Through Faith.”

The meet and greet at the Comfort Suites was full of surprises, laughter and good food. Attendees were delighted to meet the family’s only senator, N.C. Sen. Earline Parmon of Forsyth County.

Other events included a tour of the Brattonsville Plantation in McConnells, S.C. It was at that plantation where some of the Cathcart family’s ancestors were slaves. After the tour, there was a fellowship picnic on the Cathcart farm. Everyone enjoyed the tractor rides, touring the farm, playing games and food.  Bill Cathcart showed his miniature museum, which included pictures and family history.

The evening ended with a dinner and dance at the Recreation Complex Center in Fort Mills. On the last day of the reunion, the family worshiped at New Hope United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, where Pastor J. Harris gave a very inspiring sermon and the choir sang its hearts out.

The reunion is held biennially. It will take place in Buffalo, N.Y. in 2015.
