Grosjean L. Stephens, pastor of Cornerstone of Faith Ministries, will be among the performers at Gospel Fest at the Dixie Classic Fair. The event, sponsored by The Chronicle, will be held on Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Clock Tower.

Stephens and his group, Nu Sound, will perform on Sept. 30. He has just released his CD, “From Rain to Reign.”

Prior to accepting the pastorate at Cornerstone, Stephens was the church’s minister of music. The Detroit native is a renowned singer and musician. At age three, he began sing on choirs, local television shows and at hospitals and nursing homes with his grandfather, Rev. C.W. McMurry, pastor of Rescue Temple COGIC in Greensboro.

His gifts have afforded him opportunities to play with gospel music greats such as Deitrick Haddon, Pastor Marvin Winans, Karen Clark Sheard, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Vickie Winans, Jackie Clark (of The Clark Sisters) and Waymond Tisdale.

An encourager and praiser by nature, Stephens is also a teacher who facilitates gospel music workshops across the country.  He is extremely passionate about properly setting the atmosphere through praise and worship and goes out of his way to help others do the same.
