Salem Academy and College President Dr. Susan Pauly will be honored on April 18 with a Women of Achievement Award from The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Carolina (GFWC-NC). The ceremony will take place in Winston-Salem during a banquet at the GFWC-NC’s annual state conference.

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Carolina is the oldest volunteer service organization in the state, with approximately 5,000 members. The Women of Achievement Award recognizes outstanding women for their significant contributions to the state of North Carolina. Past winners include such luminaries as U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan, N.C. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and Dr. Molly Corbett Broad, former president of the University of North Carolina system.

Dr. Pauly has served as president of Salem since 2006. During her tenure, she has led Salem through a period of significant growth, with back-to-back years of historically large incoming first-year classes at the College, the construction of a new student center on campus and the purchase of land that will allow the campus to expand with new academic buildings and residence halls.

She is active in the community, serving as a member of the Winston-Salem Chamber Executive Committee, the Winston-Salem Alliance, the Downtown Rotary Club, The Forsyth Medical Foundation Board of Directors, The United Way Board of Directors, and the Advisory Boards for the Center for Design Innovation and the Piedmont Triad Research Park.
