The king of gospel quartet music, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson, has died suddenly at the age of 50. Johnson was found dead in his Atlanta, Georgia, home on Sept. 30.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Carter G. Woodson School will host their annual Hispanic Heritage Festival to celebrate the unique diversity and contributions of Hispanic and Latino culture. The Hispanic Heritage Festival will be held at the Carter G. Woodson School on Oct. 15 from 12-4 p.m. This event will include live music, cultural dance performances, free food, classroom displays, and a mariachi band.
For the past four years, working right through the pandemic, the Shared-Use Kitchen at the Enterprise Center has been helping food businesses grow, adding to the East Winston economy and beyond. Against the backdrop of the highly competitive, costly food-service field, the participants in this program, all people of color, rent space for $500 a month, giving them a jumpstart to their dreams.
