On Monday, Dec. 3, Mayor Allen Joines presented a resolution recognizing David L. Sparks for 30 years of service to the City of Winston-Salem and the Dixie Classic Fair.
The inaugural literary competition is named the Jacobs/Jones African-American Literary Prize and is open to any African-American writer who lives in North Carolina.

Monday afternoon more than 500 people filled the seats and stood along the walls of courtroom 6A in the Forsyth County Hall of Justice, eager to see Bobby Kimbrough Jr. officially sworn in as sheriff of Forsyth County.
