Prison ministry hosting evening of song

Freedom Road Evangelistic Prison Ministry will host “An Evening in Songs and Praise” on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1212 N. Dunleith Ave., where the pastor is Dr. Samuel J. Cornelius.

Guest performers will include Rod Brower and Together-N-Unity, Jeremiah Salter & Nu Praise, Corey Bennett & Natural Praise, G.I.R.L.S., Steps of Faith, the Rowan County Praise and Worship Team, the Anointed Mass Choir and the Cherry Street Prison Ensemble. Pastor Y. Tyrone Tyson of Freedom Baptist Church will emcee.

The late Ruth Adams founded the nonprofit Freedom Road Evangelistic Prison Ministry in 1973. The organization offers Bible study, revivals and a number of other religious services at area correctional institutions.

Saturday’s event is free and open to all.
