Student scholars saluted  at Breakfast of Champions

The Crosby Scholars program handed out a slew of scholarships on May 21 during its Breakfast of Champions at the Ninth Annual Crosby Scholars Invitational.

The 2012-2013 recipient of the Les and Evelyn Riley Scholarship is Agnes Jallah of R. J. Reynolds. She will attend Queens University of Charlotte this coming fall and plans to study law with hopes of becoming an immigration lawyer. Agnes is the daughter of Watchen Yuoh from Winston-Salem.

The Fulton Carolina Medal went to Akanksha Arora from Reagan High School. She will attend UNC-Chapel Hill this coming fall. Akanksha is interested in pre-med and will major in biology and minor in Spanish. Akanksha is the daughter of Seema and Milan Arora of Winston-Salem.

Uma Gaddamanugu of Reagan High School, who will attend UNC – Chapel Hill to major in global studies, won the Mommie J Scholarship. She is the daughter of Shabha and Prasad Gaddamanugu of Lewisville.

The Jessica Hill Davis Memorial Scholarships went to the following students:
• QiQi Qin of West Forsyth High School, who will enroll at UNC Chapel Hill and study biology. QiQi is the daughter of HuiLing Feng and Yud Leng Chun of Winston-Salem.
• Brandon Yunker of Mt. Tabor High School, who will enroll at NC State University and study Sports Management. Brandon is the son of Linda and Jerry Yunker of Winston-Salem.
• Israel Suarez of Reagan High School who will enroll at Brevard College. Israel plans to major in music/flute, with a minor in criminal justice. Israel is the son of Isabel Acosta from Bethania and Daniel Suarez.
