Last week Winston/Salem Forsyth County Schools’ Interim Superintendent Ken Simington announced the establishment of the Togo West Prize to be awarded to the valedictorian of Atkins Academic and Technology High School.
The Atkins Camels won three consecutive state championships in men’s basketball from 1952-54. Six members of those championship teams are still alive and three came together recently to reminisce about those championship runs.
Despite the rainy day, hundreds of people turned out at the Piedmont Earth Day Fair on Saturday, April 13, at the fairgrounds’ education building. Dozens of attendees were there to cheer on the students from Forsyth Early College and Atkins High School who competed in the 4th annual Piedmont Earth Day debate.
