June 1 event will roll out the red carpet for the award nominees

Think lights, cameras and the red carpet!  Now you have an idea of what to expect this year from The Chronicle Community Service Awards 2019 Celebration.

For the last 33 years, this event has been a banquet-style ceremony. Our 2019 ceremony is receiving a facelift. Instead of traditional dinner table setup, there will be auditorium seating.  This year’s awards ceremony will be patterned after other popular awards shows, like the Grammys or the Oscars, and include an array of entertainment prior to the recognition of award recipients.  It may be formatted differently, but it has the same atmosphere of community service and celebration.

This year each category has at least four nominees. The community sent their nominations via our Facebook and newspaper polls. From the polls, we selected the top four responses. The winners will be announced the night of the event.

Also, our subscribers will get two free tickets to the event. Non-subscriber’s tickets are $20 each, which includes a complimentary six-month subscription to The Chronicle.

The Chronicle is honored to continue to host this prestigious event, one that is designed to recognize and shine the spotlight on the people and organizations that make our community a better place to thrive and function. It has become one of our most-anticipated events.

The Community Service Awards Celebration will be held June 1 at the K. R. Williams Auditorium on the Winston-Salem State University campus and will begin at 6 p.m. This is considered a semi-formal event. Join us to see who the winners are.
