United Metropolitan hosting Men’s Week

United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 450 Metropolitan Drive, began its 2012 Men’s Week Celebration yesterday with a special Bible study led by Rev. Damian Anderson.  This year’s theme is “Men of Courage – Taking a Stand.”

Today (Thursday, Nov. 15), the panel discussion, “Taking A Stand Against Drug Abuse,” will be held at 6 p.m. Tomorrow, the men of the church will do a little community outreach by reading with students at Petree Elementary School.

The Septuagenarian Recognition Breakfast and Workshop will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m.  Rev. Frank K. Thomas of High Point’s Mt. Zion Baptist Church will facilitate the workshop.  Culminating the week’s events will be the observance of Men’s Day on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8  a.m. and 11 a.m. Dr. Michael R. Smith Sr., chief chaplain for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Washington, D.C., will be the featured speaker.  All events will be held at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. Prince R. Rivers is the senior pastor.
