Wentz Memorial touting its good deeds
The little church that could – Wentz Memorial United Church of Christ at 3435 Carver School Road – is providing overviews this month of what its ministries are doing to provide assistance to the needy in the community. The presentations, which tie the church’s work to the Bible and Black History Month, are being given during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.
Trevonia Brown-Gaither gave the first overview on Feb. 3. She spoke about Wentz’s God’s Kingdom Kitchen ministry, which provides hot meals to those in need on a quarterly basis.
The Feb. 10 presentation was delivered by Rick Frazier on the church’s Social Justice Ministry, which seeks to provide a voice to the voiceless on issues of concern in the community.
Rudy Anderson will provide the Feb. 17 presentation on the church’s Marketing Ministry, which attempts to keep the community aware of what is going on at Wentz and how those interested in becoming involved in church activities can do so.
On Feb. 24, Brown-Gaither will give a presentation about the Wentz Annual Health Fair Ministry, which provides screenings and information to aid in the health and wellness of people in the community.
At 4:30 p.m. on Sunday Feb. 24, the work of the Music and Arts Ministry will be discussed by Simona Allen. The presentation will be musical selections and a performance of “Back to Creation,” written and directed by Flonnie Anderson and adapted from James Weldon Johnson’s “The Creation.”
