WSPD makes arrest in fatal hit-and-run

The Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) has made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run that they believe was done deliberately on Monday afternoon.
Here’s what we know: Around 1:14 p.m. on Monday, June 2, officers responded to a reported hit-and-run collision with injuries in the 2300 block of Burgundy Street. Upon arrival officers found Tammy Denise Long, who was suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
EMS responded to the scene and transported Long to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. Dozens of people took to social media after hearing about the incident to share their condolences. Long was known and loved throughout the city.
According to a press release from the WSPD, preliminary evidence indicates Long was hit on purpose. At this time the relationship between Long and the suspect is unknown, however it appears to be an isolated incident where the suspect and the victim were known to one another. The WSPD Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The next day Moses Renee Arnold, 37, was taken into custody by the SWAT Team. Arnold, who is bellived to be an “acquaintance” of Long’s, has been charged with felony murder.
