The Village Inn Event Center is partnering with Women’s Wellness & Fitness to host their 2nd Annual “Triad’s Largest Party in Pink Zumbathon” to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The event will take place tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 19) from 7 – 10 p.m. at the Village Inn Event Center, 6205 Ramada Drive in Clemmons.

This three-hour co-ed dance-fitness party will feature a live DJ with club lighting, more than a dozen Certified Zumba Fitness Instructors, refreshments, vendors, incredible prizes, and special guest Trina Braxton (pictured) , a singer and star of the reality show “Braxton Family Values.”

Many participants will be dancing to honor a loved one, as so many lives have been touched by this terrible disease.

“I am privileged to be participating in memory of my cousin, Karen, who lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 32,” says Women’s Wellness Owner Helen Naples.

Breast cancer survivors are invited to participate in the event at no charge, and will be invited for a special on-stage Celebration of Hope at 8 p.m.

“We are trying to accomplish three major goals with one huge event,” explains Naples.  “First, we are raising funds to fight breast cancer.  Second, we are raising awareness of breast cancer screening opportunities, particularly among Hispanic women.  Statistically, Hispanic women tend to be diagnosed with later stages of breast cancer, resulting in more difficult treatments and higher mortality rates.  By inviting the entire community to this fundraiser, we are hoping to educate participants while having a blast (our third goal) dancing to Latin and international music!

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  Last year’s event  attracted more than 250 participants and raised more than $3,000. All of the proceeds will go toward early detection and treatment programs and finding a cure for breast cancer.
