Volunteer representatives are needed for Community Engagement Council

By Theresa Hoffman-Makar

Age-Friendly Forsyth (AFF) is working with community members to help make Forsyth County an age-friendly community. The initiative has added Community Engagement Coordinator, Arleatha Patterson, to their staff, and is actively recruiting community members who are aged 60 or older to serve on their Community Engagement Council—a volunteer-based group of resident leaders that will play an active role in the initiative’s process, directly impacting decision-making within the initiative.

If you would like to volunteer with the Community Engagement Council, please contact Arleatha Patterson at 336-701-1700 ext. 112 or at arleatha@forsythfutures.org.

We want to know your views and experiences! Before community priorities are identified, AFF is holding multiple community conversations throughout Forsyth County over the next few months. AFF would like to learn more about your experiences and views on aging in Forsyth County and in your local community. Your participation is essential and will help AFF develop community priorities to make Forsyth County a place where people can live their best lives.

Upcoming community conversations on the tour throughout the county include the 27106 and 27105 zip code areas, with conversations happening on:

27106 neighborhoods:

*Thursday, May 9, 2 -3:30 p.m., Reynolda Manor Branch Library, 2839 Fairlawn Dr. NW

*Wednesday, May 22, 9:30 -11 a.m., Robinhood Road Family YMCA, 3474 Robinhood Rd.

27105 neighborhood:

*Thursday, May 30, 6-8 p.m., 14th Street Community/Recreation Center, 2020 14th Street NE

To register for any of these events, please contact Theresa Hoffman-Makar at 336-701-1700 ext. 103 or at theresa@forsythfutures.org.
