Special Recognition Award Honoree

Who can help but not be proud of Dr. Chere Chase Gregory?

Dr. Gregory

Dr. Gregory

One of the nation’s few black female board certified neurologists, Gregory has made it to the top of her profession while never forgetting to give back and inspire those who want to follow in her footsteps.

As the director of neurosciences at Novant Health’s Forsyth Medical Center, Gregory has helped the hospital build one of the top stroke treatment programs in the region. The Triad’s only Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, Forsyth Medical treats more than 1,000 patients for strokes each year.
But part of Dr. Gregory’s mission is reaching the community through education in hopes of preventing stroke and other cardiovascular illnesses. She has won grants to implement grassroots screening and intervention programs and has gladly become a goodwill and good-health ambassador for the hospital. It is not uncommon to find Dr. Gregory addressing church, community or school groups.

Her mission to save lives is personal. Heart disease and stroke have had a deadly impact on Gregory’s own family. Her position as one of the nation’s foremost neurologists gives Dr. Gregory a chance each day to honor the memory of her own loved ones by convincing others to give good health a chance.
For dedicating her professional career to healing and educating, The Chronicle and the community are proud to give Special Recognition to Dr. Chere Chase Gregory.
