Ursula Dudley Oglesby, president of High Point-based Dudley Beauty Corp, LLC, was slated to join other private sector leaders from around the country for a meeting in the West Wing of the White House on Thursday, Sept. 13.

According to an official email from the White House Business Council, Oglesby and the other business leaders were to engage in a discussion on job creation and key areas of focus for spurring American economic competitiveness.

The agenda was to include a pre-brief on international trade and investment issues from event host Nicole Lamb-Hale, assistant secretary for Manufacturing and Services at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and a macroeconomic and budget overview from Alan Krueger, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.  A senior Obama Administration official was also to address the group.

“I was ecstatic and humbled at the same time,” Oglesby said about the invitation. “This vote of confidence has enabled me to take the company forward in conjunction with President Obama’s pledge to the country.”

Oglesby, who was in the same 1991 Harvard Law School Graduating Class with President Obama, said she planned to absorb as much information as she could and share her observations about North Carolina’s business environment.

Dudley Beauty Corp is the company responsible for producing and distributing Dudley’s full line of hair care and personal care products. She is the daughter of Dudley Products Inc. Co-Founders Drs. Joe and Eunice Dudley.

She serves on the boards of the University of North Carolina Greensboro Entrepreneurship Center and WFMY’s Those Who Care Program. Oglesby is an adjunct business law professor at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University’s School of Business & Economics.
