golden style insertA local author and poet is getting some international exposure. Edward “Golden Style” Williams was recently interviewed for Fellow Traveller, a mainstream Chinese magazine that reaches more than 250,000 monthly subscribers.

He was contacted by columnist Vivian Ho after she read three of his books. A story about him is slated to appear to in Fellow Traveller, which is also distributed at Chinese railway stations and airports. He already gave the magazine permission to translate and print several of his poems.

The poems “Profile,” “Homage,” “Wife” and “Faith Walker” are all featured in Williams’ latest book, “Word Play,” which is billed as “a tightly written book of poetry that emphasizes the power of words.” A native of Jersey City, N. J., Williams relocated to Winston-Salem at an early age.

He took an interest in poetry and hip hop when he was a student at what was then-Kennedy Middle School. He says his work stands apart because he combines messages of hope with an ungarnished truth.

His subject matters focus on everything from relationships to sadness and rising from despair. Williams’ other books include “Seeds of Hope,” “The Final Storm” and “Three Seconds of Game.” All of his titles are available at popular online sellers and Barnes and Noble.
