The Carver High School Jackets Credit Union celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Monday, Nov. 25.
Simon S. Johnson, one of the cornerstone leaders and co-founder of Quality Education Schools, was recently honored by having the newly-constructed addition to the high school named in his honor.
EnergyUnited has awarded more than $42,000 in Bright Ideas education grants to 45 teachers to fund innovative classroom projects. Students at schools in Alexander, Catawba, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties, will participate in Bright Ideas projects funded by EnergyUnited this year.
The Phi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated 95 years in Winston-Salem with the unveiling of a new historical marker on Friday, Nov. 15. The marker is located near the corner of MLK and Carl Russell Avenue.

For the past 10 years, Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church has marked Thanksgiving by giving away turkeys to those in need in the community. From a humble beginning with just 50 turkeys in 2009, this year the giveaway reached amazing new heights with volunteers passing out more than 700 turkeys last weekend.
