 Award-winning director and film producer, and owner of GoGetHer Productions Nachela Knox, is rolling out the red carpet this weekend for the premiere of her latest feature film,” Uneven Deception.” 

 The movie is a thriller that revolves around an influencer named Desiree who hires a security camera technician, only to discover that he is secretly a stalker with sinister intentions. Knox, who is the writer and director, told The Chronicle that “Uneven Deception” will have you glued to your seat, waiting eagerly to see what happens next.  

 “I’m very excited for people to see it, there’s a lot of elements in it … and there’s little things that I’m curious to see if people are going to pick up on,” Knox said.  

 Knox said “Uneven Deception” came together one day while brainstorming with her producer, John Blaq. “We were literally just analyzing movies and trying to figure out something that we can do that would be simple and do on a small budget,” said Knox when asked about the idea for the film.  

 “It kind of just formed from there … then we auditioned a couple of different titles, then decided to go with “Uneven Deception” because the security guy is playing this game, but it’s uneven because everybody is playing this game.” 

 The premiere of “Uneven Deception” is Saturday, May 31, 3:30-6:30 p.m., at the ACE Theatre Complex on the campus of the UNCSA, 1640 Hollywood Blvd. The red-carpet experience will also include a photo booth and an exclusive Q&A with the cast and crew. Knox said after overcoming changes to the script, budget cuts, and other challenges, it was only right that they celebrate.  

 “Once we got to the end of this, I was like, we gotta have a premiere,” Knox said.  

 A native of Cornelius, a small town outside of Charlotte, Knox started GoGetHer Productions in 2020. After producing a few short films and working on collaborations with several production companies, Knox released her first feature, “Couch Party,” in 2023, which is available on the streaming app Tubi.  

 In an interview with The Chronicle in 2022, Knox said theatre and film are what she’s been passionate about since she was a kid. “This has been something I have been chasing for the longest time because it’s been the one thing that interested me … I never played any sports. It’s always been theatre, theatre, theatre,” Knox said.
